So far, Emily has proven to be unpredictable. If you are a parent, I am sure this does not come as a surprise. But after reading a number of books on infants, I was expecting a blissful existence of one hour feeding, a diaper change, a few minutes of “play” time followed by 3 hours of solid sleep. Simple, right? Wrong. Sometimes Emily wants to fuss, sometimes she just wants to be held differently, sometimes she wants to listen to Pink Floyd while her daddy sings to her and other times she just wants to squirm. And then, after we think she has fallen asleep in one of our arms, we put her in the bassinet and walk away from our “house of cards”, hoping a butterfly doesn’t land in China and knock it all down. It is so nice when we realize she is actually asleep so we can 1) take a nap, 2) eat, 3) take a nap. Infants, they are funny things.
