Last Thursday I was in Richmond and flying back to Boston out of DCA, or Reagan National Airport. Its about 110 miles from Richmond to the airport. My flight was at 5 and my meeting ended at 1:30, so with a few calls to make, I decided to get on the road at 2, with an anticipated time of arriving at the Hertz counter a little before 4. Didn't happen.
I drove about 30 miles and 95 north was shut down. I turned on AM radio and there was an accident in the morning and all but one lane was closed. I sat in traffic for 40 minutes to go 6 miles.
So after it broke up, I drove like a race car driver with about a 50 50 chance of making it. My GPS said I was going to arrive at 4:36, which is probably not enough time. But I floored it and tried to keep from getting pulled over.
I arrived at 4:10, dropped the car off, got on a very very slow courteous bus, got through security quickly, and got ot the gate at 20 minutes before 5. The flight boarded 5 minutes later and all was well.
I am sure you are happy for me.
We had a normal busy weekend, with it ending on the Super Bowl. We started with me taking Emily to swim team on Friday night. Saturday was Ethan's swim class, then I ran a bunch of errands with Emily, then I stayed with the boys while Emily went to a pool party, I put up a fence to keep the dog in, dinner with friends Saturday night, Sunday morning a long run (Oh, I went for a long run Sat morning as well), then church Sunday, then I took all three kids to BC for tennis and swim and dive (for the older two), Emerson was a beast, then home for dinner and the Super Bowl.
And I am now glad Monday is back so I can get some rest.
Yipeeeeee - I have missed your blog - facebook is ok but boy this is ten times better
